FESTIVAL D´ÉTÉ DE QUÉBEC
In early July 1989 Celine Dion took part at Le Festival D´été De Québec (also known as Quebec City Summer Festival in English), an annual 11-days music festival in downtown Quebec City in Quebec, Canada. Celine performed at the Porte Saint-Jean, one of the main gates through the walls from the modern section of downtown of Quebec City. This year, the festival established the Prix International de la Chanson Francophone intended to honour songwriters and members of the production staff responsible for the creation of French-language songs, arouse interest in the media, and produce a consensus among all the participants in an effort to promote the wealth of the French-language chanson. Celine performed the songs: "Carmen", "Le blues du bussinessman", "Love by another name" and a medley Starmania (wich included the songs: "Quand on arrive en ville", "Les uns contre les autres", "Le monde est stone" and "Naziland, ce soir on danse"). Footage from this concert was broadcasted as part of the TV special entitled "Céline: En Spectacle Et En Coulisses", aired by ARTV channel in Quebec, Canada. With four event-filled days, the festival attracted 90,000 visitors to La Baie Park and no less than 65 balloons from France, Switzerland, the United States and Canada. Celine Dion and Pierre Flynn were the main drawing cards on the program. The honorary president that year was Xavier de Montgolfier, a pilot from Annonay and a descendant of the inventors of the "lighter than air machine". On this concert, Celine wore the same outfit she wore at the opening ceremony of the Eurovision Contest in 1989.
