BENEFIT CONCERT
On October 1, 2012 Celine Dion took part at a benefit concert for the victims of the election night shooting from September 4, 2012 in Quebec, Canada. The benefit concert took place at the Metropolis in Montreal, Canada. Celine saluted the victims of Quebec´s election-night shooting by opening this benefit concert in their honour. Celine, Arcade Fire and Ben Harper headlined a show at the Metropolis, the same venue where Denis Blanchette was fatally shot. "I want to offer my sincere condolences to Denis´ whole family", an emotional Celine told the crowd before singing the first song of the show, "L´amour existe encore" (accompanied by Claude "Mego" Lemay on piano). "For us to be all together tonight is hopefully going to help to, certainly won´t bring it back... But is it ever possible to get together and support and give good strength, positive energy to the family and the poor little child", Celine said. "It´s so hard". Tickets retailed at $80 for standing space, while the 355 seats sold for $175. All concert passes sold within a matter of hours. Funds raised from the concert supported a trust fund for Blanchette´s young daughter. The 48-year-old lighting technician was killed when he was struck by a single bullet at the Parti Quebecois victory rally. Donations were also collected for Dave Courage, the other man hit by the same bullet. After her song, Celine touched her heart and waved to loved ones of the shooting victims, who watched from balconies above the stage. About half a dozen other Quebec musical acts performed after Celine. Premier Pauline Marois also attended the concert.

BARON INVESTMENT CONFERENCE
On October 12, 2012 Celine Dion took part at the Baron Funds´ 21st Annual Baron Investment Conference, wich took place at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, USA. Executives from various Baron portfolio companies took the stage throughout the day, with Ron Baron himself capping off the lineup of speakers in the afternoon. Though markets and margins dominated the day´s discourse, the conversation amongst attendees largely focused on who would appear after Baron wrapped up his talk. Each year Baron treats his investors to a private performance by a high profile recording artist. The headliner is always a guarded secret that Baron keeps from even his closest associates. Past acts have included Sting, James Taylor, Diana Ross, John Cougar Mellencamp, Sheryl Crow, Faith Hill, Lionel Richie, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and Elton John. This year, Jazz crooner Harry Connick Jr. put on a spirited performance in the opening slot during the conference´s lunch break. Celine, the voice behind Titanic´s "My heart will go on" and the late 1990s hit "That´s the way it is", dazzled those in attendance. Other musical guests included were Kristin Chenoweth and Joss Stone.
