ON TV SHOW
On September 3, 2005 Celine Dion appeared on the broadcast of the famous American talk show "Larry King Live", hosted by Larry King and aired on CNN channel in USA. Larry King interviewed Celine, who was at her dressing room of the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, USA where she was performing with the show "A New Day...". Celine was furious and emotional as she talked about the disaster of Hurricane Katrina with King. Celine said to larry "...the only song that comes to my mind right now is definitely a prayer. I did sing that song a few weeks - a few years back with Andrea Bocelli...", and she sang a little part of the song. Crying her heart out for Katrina Hurricane victims, Celine took a position against the delayed and still poor federal response: "I open the television, there´s people still there waiting to be rescued. To me that is not acceptable", she yelled. And, making matters "worse", she gave a laud slap at the U.S. policy in Iraq: "How can it be so easy to send planes in another country to kill everybody in a second and destroy lives?! We need to serve our country... and for me to serve our country is to be there right now to rescue the rest of the people". Celine´s special appearance didn´t pass unobserved. Millions of people were watching and Celine struck everybody... even her "non-fans" or her "haters". They admire her now. Blogs and Forums around the world were full of topics about her, and everybody agree with her. Maman Dion and Celine´s sister, Claudette, saw Celine´s appearance at Larry King´s show. Watching the footages where Celine was crying out her anger concerning those terrible events happening in New-Orleans, they said: "We are so proud of her, Celine said out loud what everybody thinks!". Then, Celine refused to be interviewed again after crying her heart and anger out during Larry King´s show. Pressed by several reports who wanted her to repeat her comments about the delayed aids for Katrina´s victims, the singer preferred to turn back in the shade. Broadcastings like Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight, in particular, tried but in vain. According to her spokeswoman in Las Vegas, Celine does not regret her accusations against Bush´s administration. Her manager and husband Rene Angelil declared that Celine said what she had to say and that she does not have to explain more.
